SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA)

For this article, I will use SQL Server Migration assistant (SSMA) for converting ORACLE Data Base to Sql server Data Base.

This tool helps to convert Oracle, Sysbase, Mysql and Acces data bases to SQL server 2005, 2008 and 2012 versions.

Let start from Oracle:

Start your SSMA :

Start -> Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle -> Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle



Select File -> New Project

Set your project Name and Location, on “Migrate To” select your Sql Server data base version for destination.

Go to Connect To Oracle:

Important :

If you get this mesage, jut select Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle (32-bit)

You can navigate to oracle objects:

Go to Connect to SQL Server:

Select your Server name, database and Authentication method and you can navigate to SQL Server Objects:

On Oracle tab, select objects you want to convert to SQL Server (Tables, Views, Stored Procedures …)

Right click on your scheme and select CONVERT SCHEME:

You will get all errors and warning message.

Go to SQL Server Tab, right click on your DB and select Synchronize with database :

This will create all object select on ORACLE DB to SQL Server DB

You will get summary of all selected objects, just click on OK
